Le Contoures  is ideally situated to explore the wonderful area of open countryside and rich architecture steeped in history and colourful markets.  Less than 30 mins drive through deep valleys and across high plateaux are several of the most beautiful villages in France. Whether you want to walk, trek on horseback, cycle or just enjoy the quiet and peaceful landscape, this is the place to come. Sauveterre de Rouergue is a small "Bastide" town of half timbered houses, remains of the fortifications, moats, towers and archways.. wander back through the ages.  In the depths of the Aveyron valley is Belcastel, a village dominated by its 15th century castle. Najac, Conques, Brousse le Chateau - Aveyron boasts 10 of the most beautiful villages in France. Just 30 kilometres away is Villefranche de Rouergue with its narrow cobbled streets full of interesting shops.  Each Thursday its historic centre is full of market stalls selling local produce and specialities of the region. Millau and its Viaduct are just an hours drive away.  See the tallest bridge in the world, known as "the Bridge in the Clouds", taller than the Eiffel Tower and surely one of the wonders of the 21st century.
